BRUNSWICK — Incumbent Sen. Stan Gerzofsky, D-Brunswick, has won his third term in state Senate District 10 by defeating Ralph Dean, R-Freeport, 11,466 to 5,338.

The voting totals are based on unofficial reports from four precincts, which finds Gerzofsky winning by 68 percent.

District 10 represents Brunswick, Freeport, Harpswell and Pownal.

Gerzofsky previously served four terms in the state House, and he will continue into his third term in state Senate starting next year. He said in 2010 that he is not a career politician.

Dean is a retired U.S. Navy captain, and played a role in seeking to keep the Brunswick Naval Air Station open before it closed in 2011. This was the first time he sought public office.
