BRUNSWICK — Gertrude A. Haney, 83, of Brunswick, died Tuesday at her home.

She was born Nov. 7, 1929, in Brunswick, the daughter of Arlene Harmon.

She attended Brunswick schools, worked in Freeport shoe shops, and was a homemaker for most of her life.

Haney enjoyed quahogging and made some of the best clam chowder in Brunswick by squeezing the bellies of each individual clam. She also liked to do crossword puzzles.

Surviving are two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband, Webster Haney, who died Aug. 24, 2009, and her son, Roger Haney, who died Oct. 5, 1992, as well as her brothers and sisters.

There will be no visiting hours. A private graveside service will be held in Maquoit Cemetery, Brunswick, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband and son.
