The North Yarmouth Academy girls’ lacrosse program has a new coach, one-time Panther Lucy Gerrity. Gerrity, who also played field hockey and ice hockey at NYA, then played field hockey and lacrosse at Colby College, replaces Lynn Sullivan, who stepped down after two seasons. Gerrity has previous lacrosse coaching experience with Downeast Lacrosse Camp in Yarmouth, as an assistant varsity girls’ coach at Cape Elizabeth High School and as coach and counselor at Elite 180 Lacrosse Camp, Maineiax Lacrosse Club and Peak Lacrosse Camp. Gerrity is currently the marketing and communications assistant at NYA.
“I’m very excited to accept the position and am glad to return to a program that taught me so much,” said Gerrity, whose brother, Peter, is the NYA boys’ lacrosse coach and assistant athletic director. “I can’t wait for the season to begin.”
“(Lucy) is a model of the NYA ethic,” said NYA athletic director Jack Hardy. “She loves coaching and displays a true passion for the sport of lacrosse. These points, in concert with her knowledge of lacrosse and ability to coach tactics and skills, has the NYA lacrosse community very excited about the upcoming season.”
