PORTLAND — The South Portland video producer who was caught up in the raid on a Gaza relief flotilla by Israeli troops May 31 will speak about his experience Friday at Sacred Heart Church.

Scott Hamann was aboard one of six ships in the flotilla when the Israeli Navy boarded the ships in international waters. On one of the ships, the Mavi Marmara, nine passengers were killed after a reported confrontation between the Israelis and activists on the ship.

Hamann was on board the Challenger 1. He was briefly detained in an Israeli prison before being sent back to America.

The talk on Friday, June 11, begins at 7 p.m. in the Parish Hall of Sacred Heart Church, 80 Sherman St. The event, co-sponsored by Peace Action Maine, is free and open to the public.
