FREEPORT — Ring in 2018 with L.L. Bean’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration, and the “Clam Drop” in Yarmouth.

The fun will kick off on Dec. 31 at 11 a.m. with crafts and entertainment, followed by a concert by Rick Charette and the Bubblegum Band at 5:15 p.m. and fireworks starting at 6 p.m. on Morse Street. The fireworks will be launched from the girl’s softball field.

A full schedule of events can be found on freeportusa.com.

In Yarmouth, join the First Universalist Church at 97 Main St. for the annual “Clam Drop.” The town’s mascot – Steamer the Clam – will be lowered from the church’s belfry on New Year’s Eve starting at 7 p.m. Music and refreshments will be offered on site.

Chamber of Commerce Director Adrienne Nardi will deliver a few remarks to thank the town for the support, since Jan. 1 marks 200 days until the 53rd annual Clam Festival.
