FREEPORT — Firefighters rescued a woman who drove her car into a shallow pond late Wednesday.
At about 9:30 p.m., the woman was driving on Rowe Court, accelerated into a ditch, through bushes, across a lawn and into a 3- to 4-inch-deep pond, Fire Chief Daniel Fournier said.
Police are investigating, but the woman appeared to be disoriented and lost control, Fournier said. She was otherwise uninjured, according to chief, who described the driver as “elderly,” but did not know her age.
The woman was removed from the vehicle and crews escorted her to her nearby home on Rowe Court.
