FREEPORT — After New Year’s Eve fireworks were called off because of bad weather, Central Maine Pyrotechnics will provide the town with a free show on Friday, Feb. 23.

The fireworks are normally launched from the snow dump, which is across from the high school’s new turf field and track, but will now be launched from the girl’s softball field.

“This is a test shoot, essentially,” Town Manager Peter Joseph said. “There are concerns that, being within 150 feet of (the new turf field) … would burn a hole in the new turf.”
