FREEPORT — Nomination papers will be available Aug. 1 for candidates in the Nov. 8 General Election.

There are eight offices up for election on the Town Council, Regional School School Unit 5 Board of Directors, the Sewer District Board of Trustees, and the Water District Board of Trustees.

Papers are due back to Town Hall by Sept. 14 at 6 p.m.

Three seats will be available on the Town Council: the  councilor-at-large seat held by Councilor Jim Hendricks, the District 1 seat held by Councilor Scott Gleeson, both for three-year terms, and a one-year seat in District 3 to finish the unexpired term of former Councilor Kristina Egan, who resigned last month.

Candidates for the at-large seat must gather 100 signatures, while the two district seats require 50 signatures.

Two, three-year seats on the RSU 5 board are available; they are held by Louise Brogan and Valy Steverlynck, and each requires 100 signatures.

Two seats on the sewer board, held by Clinton Goodenow Jr. and Thomas Hudak, are up for election, as is one seat on the water board, held by Michael Ashby. All are for three years and require 25 signatures.
