FREEPORT — The Freeport Housing Trust celebrated its 25th anniversary in February at its annual meeting.

President Amy Cartmell honored board member Tom Kelley for his role in founding the nonprofit organization, which controls 209 affordable rental units. Past Presidents Betsy Ruff, Kerry Corthell and Vaughndella Curtis also attended.

The organization recently created a $12,000 emergency rental assistance program that will be administered by Freeport’s general assistance administrator, Johanna Hanselman.

“The success of Freeport Housing Trust has enabled us to reach out and support additional programs that further the Freeport ethic of caring for our neighbors,” Executive Director Jim Hatch said.
