Freeport honors top winter athletes

Freeport High School recently honored its top winter athletes.

The boys’ basketball team’s Outstanding Player awards went to Mitch Loeman and Josh Weirich. Josh Soley won the Booster’s Pride and Character award.

The boys’ junior varsity team’s Athletic Excellence awards were given to Noah Butler and Ramsey Dodge. Brendan Qualls earned the Booster’s Pride and Character award.

On the girls’ side, Nina Davenport was named the varsity team’s Most Valuable Player. Leigh Wyman won the Coach’s Award. Alexandra Mitch was given the Booster’s Pride and Character award.

JV Athletic Excellence awards went to Naomi Otis and Jessica Perry. Molly Lane won the Booster’s Pride and Character award.

First team Athletic Excellence awards were given to Hannah Avant and Kaitlin Johnson. Elizabeth Kolle earned the Booster’s Pride and Character award.

Indoor track’s Finish Line awards went to Taylor Saucier and Ciera Wentworth. Starting Block awards were given to Alyssa Richardson and Harrison Stivers. Lexi Dietrich and Mark Donahue won the Booster’s Pride and Character award.

Alpine skiing’s Athletic Excellence awards went to Ryder Bennell and Elly Bengtsson. Brady Davis and Taylor Enrico won the Booster’s Pride and Character awards.

On the Nordic side, Coach’s awards were won by Julius Kruse, Lily LaMarre, Elizabeth Martin and Zach Merrill. Booster’s Pride and Character awards were given to Laura Ramage and Ethan Roney.

Cheering’s MVP was Ally Aspinall. Emilee Billings was named Most Improved. Danielle Morency was given the Booster’s Pride and Character award.

Western Maine Conference All-Academic team qualifiers were Chris Collins, Gabe Currier, Abby Latulippe, Abigail Mahoney, Halli Ojala-Barrett, Sarah Pier, Laura Ramage and Josh Weirich.

Max Thomas Scholarship Award winners were Emily Martin and Mia Thomas.

Girls’ ice hockey, which is a co-op team with Yarmouth, was given the Maine Principals’ Association Sportsmanship Award.

Freeport Middle Schoolers were also honored.
