FREEPORT — Several published authors are visiting creative writing classes at Freeport High School this month.

On Nov. 21 and 22, Yarmouth author Lily King will come to campus. King’s work, which includes three novels, explores themes of family, trust and secrets. Her latest book, “Father of the Rain,” was published in 2010.

On Nov. 13, Melissa Coleman, of Freeport, and Jaed Coffin, of Brunswick, visited the school. Coleman’s memoir, “This Life Is in Your Hands: One Dream, Sixty Acres, and a Family’s Heartbreak,” was published in 2012; it tells the story of the author’s childhood growing up on the fringes of society on a coastal Maine farm in the 1970s.

Coffin’s book, “A Chant to Soothe Wild Elephants,” also a memoir, was published in 2008; it details Coffin’s journey from student at Middlebury College to ordained Buddhist monk in Taiwan.
