FREEPORT — Wolfe’s Neck Farm has received a grant of more than $573,000 from the National Institute of Food and Agriculture through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The grant was announced July 22 by U.S. Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Angus King, an independent. The money will be used for the farm’s Organic Dairy Farmer Apprenticeship Program, which was established last year.

The apprenticeship is a two-year program in which people live and work on the farm as they learn how to start and manage their own dairy farms.
