FREEPORT — The Town Council postponed until next month a decision on an extension agreement for the builders of a schooner built completely of recycled materials.

The hearing, rescheduled for Sept. 4, was delayed to allow environmental and code enforcement agencies time to review the Island Rover Foundation’s construction site and prepare reports, according to an announcement by the council. The topic was originally on the agenda for the Aug. 7 meeting.

The current consent agreement, which expires at the beginning of next year, allows the foundation to operate outside of existing zoning laws to build a 113-foot schooner in a residential neighborhood.
