FREEPORT — Berenson Associates, developers of Freeport Village Station, announced that the six-screen Nordica movie theater will open in the fall.

The $2.6 million cinema complex will have stadium seating, digital technology and one 3D screen.

The theater was initially expected to open last November, but financial problems delayed the project. Then in November, Al Yebba, chief operating officer of Berenson Associates, said the theater was expected to open this summer. Now Yebba said the company is “confident that the $2.6 million project will be ready to open in the fall.”

Massachusetts-based Belmont Capital, operator of the Windham Five Star Cinema, Wells Five Star Cinema and Bangor Mall Cinemas, will operate the Nordica Theater.

The theater will be built under the L.L. Bean outlet store in Freeport Village Station, at the corner of Mill and Depot streets, next to a 550-space parking garage.
