Freeport seniors Maggie Ryan, left, Alexa Koenig, Natalie Anderson and Tabatha Sabans (joined by their families and Falcons field hockey and girls’ lacrosse varsity coach Marcia Wood) are all smiles Thursday afternoon after committing in a ceremony at the high school to play sports in college.

Ryan will play lacrosse at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, Koenig will play field hockey at the University of New England in Biddeford, Anderson will play field hockey at Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts and Sabans will play field hockey at Coker College in Hartsville, South Carolina.

“Just to have kids thinking about playing at the next level and knowing that they can is a big deal,” Wood said. “To have so many people going to the next level makes me feel like I did my job to make them love the sport enough to play. I think this shows there’s a place for everyone.”
