CAPE ELIZABETH — As part of the state Office of Tourism’s second annual Open Lighthouse Day on Saturday, Sept. 17, the Portland Head Light tower and museum will be open and free to the public.
Because of limited capacity, tower tickets will be distributed on a first-come first-serve basis. There will be 12 tickets given out for each 15-minute period from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children younger than 10 will not be admitted to the tower and visitors must be able to climb more than 85 steps unassisted.
