PHIPPSBURG — Frederick Thomas York, 80, died Nov. 19, at his home in West Point with his family at his side.

York was born Aug. 29, 1935, in Bath, to Bernard Francis York and Marjorie Isabell Gilliam.

He was a veteran of the Army, serving both in Germany and in the U.S.

York was a lobsterman for almost 60 years; he loved the ocean and nature.

He was married for 53 years to Josephine Munsey, with whom he shared many wonderful times. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

York was predeceased by his parents and a special uncle, Irving York.

He is survived by his loving wife; two daughters, Kimberly Shade, of Texas and Michele Morong, of Phippsburg; two grandsons, John Shade III and Zachery Shade, both of Texas; a granddaughter, Hannah Morong, of Phippsburg; two brothers, Gene York, of West Point and Myron York, of Bath; and three great- grandchildren, Madison, Zoe and Elizabeth, along with many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Services were held Nov. 24 at West Point Community Church in Phippsburg.
