PORTLAND — A Franklin Towers resident has died from burns he received in his apartment Dec. 18.
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said Monday that 80-year-old Myron H. McLaughlin died Sunday at Maine Medical Center, where he was being treated for burns he sustained over 60 percent of his body.
McCausland said state fire marshals determined McLaughlin was smoking in a living room chair around 7:30 p.m. when his fleece pajamas caught fire. The rest of the apartment was undamaged.
