BATH — Frank Albert Mank, 82, died with family by his side Feb. 3 at Mid Coast Senior Health Care. 

On Dec. 2, 1927, he was born to Alton and Myrtel (Boggs) Mank and grew up in Bath. 

At a young age he left school to work at Walter Furbish. 

During World War II he joined the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Buckley.

On May 31, 1947, he married Doris Wallace and they raised a family of seven children together. 

He worked for the Central Maine Railroad for 42 years.

An outdoorsman and avid hunter, he also enjoyed watching television and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Betty Beals and Christine Gamage, and a son-in-law, Roger Irish.

Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Doris of Bath; two sons, Frank A. Mank Jr. and his wife Lorna of Warren, Alton A. Mank and his wife Christina of Bath, and five daughters, Vilinda Haley and her husband Wayne of Florida, Doris Stewart and her husband Roger of Brunswick, Diana Irish of West Bath, Vivian Freeman and her husband Donald “Bucky” of Bath, Sandra Louese and her husband Fred of Lewiston; two brothers, Emery Mank of Massachusetts, and Everett Mank of Rockland, and two sisters, Shirley Mank of Connecticut, and Nancy Beals of Rockland; 26 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held last week.
