PORTLAND — A block of Forest Avenue between Baxter Boulevard and Preble Street Extension could soon be rezoned.

On March 22, the Planning Board voted 6-1 to recommend the City Council change existing business and residential zones to a business B-2b zone. Lisa Whited opposed the recommendation.

The block of 351-375 Forest Ave. is home to Palmer Spring Co., Creative Trails, Forest Gardens and David Munster TV. Building owners David Weeks and Michael Kaplan are hoping to sell the properties to developers representing the CVS pharmacy chain.

The company would like to demolish the buildings to build a pharmacy including a drive-through window, but the B-2b zone prohibits the use. The zoning change is not yet on a City Council agenda.
