PORTLAND — A woman was seriously injured in an accident on Forest Avenue Wednesday afternoon, and the driver who allegedly hit her faces multiple charges.

Police said Mary Anthoine, 60, whose address was not released, was struck by a 2011 Toyota Highlander around 3:15 p.m. at 1055 Forest Ave.

The Toyota, driven by Robert Carson, 82, a Portland resident whose street address was not released, hit Anthoine as Carson entered a parking lot at Pratt Abbott cleaners. The vehicle then struck and damaged a Toyota Camry.

Anthoine was hospitalized and Carson was charged with causing an accident with injuries, operating with a suspended or revoked license, operating an unregistered vehicle for 30-150 days, and operating without a valid inspection sticker.

The accident remains under investigation, and police are looking for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to call 874-8532 or 874-8575.
