BATH — Singer-songwriter John Gorka, described by Rolling Stone magazine as the “lead voice of the New Folk movement,” returns to the Chocolate Church Arts Center Friday, May 20, at 7:30 p.m.

“Hailing from New Jersey, but forged in the Greenwich Village Fast Folk scene, Gorka honed his craft and persona into an unmistakable image,” a May 11 Chocolate Church press release said. “The shy, wry, insightful, and sensitive singer-songwriter has been copied and parodied. But the old musical coat he wove still fits, and still suits him well. The old songs ring as true as they ever did, and the new ones are just as good.”

Tickets, which cost $25 in advance and $30 at the door, are available by calling the 804 Washington St. box office at 442-8455, or logging onto chocolatechurcharts.org.
