PORTLAND — Green will be the color of the day in Monument Square Saturday, Sept. 13, when the inaugural Portland Greenfest runs from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Organized by groups and agencies including the Greater Portland Sustainability Council, Portland Public Library, the University of Southern Maine, and ecomaine, Greenfest is a rain-or-shine event with live music, a “re-fashion” show, “eco-poetry slam” and children’s activities including a touch-tank with marine life, crafts, a wood pellet play box and a screening of the 2012 film “The Lorax,” adapted from the Dr. Seuss book.
The movie will play at the Portland Public Library as a feature of the Greenfest Filmfest. Greenfest will also have workshops and a business expo. For more information, visit portlandgreenfest.org.
