SOUTH PORTLAND — Players at the South Portland Golf Course will see an uptick in rates this season for the first time in eight years.

The price of weekday play at the nine-hole course has been bumped up to $15 from $13; weekend and holiday prices are now $17, up from $15. Fees for rental clubs and carts have doubled: clubs now cost $8, and carts will cost $4.

Daily $1 and $2 discounts for residential and non-residential members are unchanged.

Kevin Adams, Parks Department recreation coordinator, said the increases are an attempt to combat operational cost increases “across the board,” such as for fuel and maintenance products.

Opening day at the course was slated for Wednesday, April 16, weather permitting.
