BRUNSWICK — Two Brunswick nonprofits will receive over $2.2 million in federal grant money to stimulate economic growth and development in low-income communities around the state.

Coastal Enterprises, Inc., on Federal Street, will receive $1.75 million to further rural economic development through re-lending programs.

The Genesis Fund, on Lincoln Street, will receive $475,000 to develop affordable housing in low-income communities.

Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Angus King, an independent, announced the grants Monday that were awarded from the federal Community Development Financial Institutions Program.
