YARMOUTH — The cause of a fatal accident on East Main Street on Saturday, Sept. 3, is still under investigation, police said Tuesday.

Lt. Dean Perry said Chad Meier, 36, of East Main Street, died from injuries caused when his vehicle left the road and hit a tree stump.

Perry said the single-vehicle accident took place at 4:43 p.m. near 777 and 780 East Main Street. He said the truck hit the stump and was found on its side. Meier was partially ejected from the vehicle.

Perry said police are waiting for results of a toxicology screening on Meier and results of an accident reconstruction by Maine State Police.

He said Meier was wearing a seat belt and there was no other damage to nearby vehicles or buildings.
