One week after playing an integral role in Falmouth’s Class B boys’ basketball state championship, Yachtsmen senior Tom Wilberg was named the winner of a $2,000 All-State Academic scholarship at the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches/Maine McDonald’s basketball banquet in Bangor March 8. Wilberg is a National Merit Finalist, an AP Scholar, a 2013 US Presidential Scholar candidate and a member of National Honor Society and Math Team, where he was one of the top scorers. He’s a high honors student and is in the top 10 percent of his class, in addition to excelling in basketball, soccer and tennis. Wilberg also plays the saxophone and guitar. His college choice is undecided. He’s considering a course of study in biology, biomedical sciences, pre-med or pre-law.
