Falmouth senior Alex Bernier, joined by (from left), her father, Rick, brother, Jack, and mother, Kelly, signs her National Letter of Intent to attend and play lacrosse at the University of Vermont at a signing ceremony Friday afternoon.

“I was looking at other schools, but since I was young, I always wanted to go to the University of Vermont,” Bernier said. “It’s great it’s worked out that I can play lacrosse at my favorite school. I’m looking forward to joining the team. I didn’t know if I could go Division I, so it’s cool to see how the process played out. It’s been great playing here and for the Maineiax and Maine Lacrosse Futures. Liz Grote and Lauren Reid have helped me so much in the process.”

“Alex has a commitment to lacrosse,” said Falmouth coach Robin Haley. “She really bleeds lacrosse. It’s nice to see an athlete who sets goals for herself be able to come through. It’s a big step for Falmouth lacrosse. She’s done the work on her own, but she has a team that helped her get there. It’s a tribute to her.”
