FALMOUTH — The town will offer special office hours to issue marriage licenses on Dec. 29, 30 days after Gov. Paul LePage certified the legalization of same-sex marriage in Maine.

The town clerk’s office will be open by appointment only at 12:01 a.m. and noon on Dec. 29 to issue the licenses.

Couples must make an appointment with Town Clerk Ellen Planer by no later than 4 p.m. Dec. 27. Appointments can be scheduled via e-mail to eplaner@town.falmouth.me.us, by phone at 699-5305, or in person during regular business hours.

In addition to issuing marriage licenses, Planer said she has already scheduled at least one same-sex marriage ceremony for Dec. 29 at Town Hall.
