Falmouth senior Theo Hembre, left, joined by teammates Marcus Cady and Lou Mainella, shows off the hardware after winning the Travis Roy Award Sunday. The award is presented by the Maine Class A High School Hockey Coaches Association to the top Class A senior boys’ hockey player in the state. Hembre, a forward, became the 23rd all-time recipient and the third from Falmouth, joining Peter Gustavson (2005) and Isac Nordstrom (2015). Hembre, who had 27 goals and 20 assists this past season, was joined as a finalist by Cheverus’ Mike Hatch, Lewiston’s Ryan Bossie and Portland/Deering’s Cam King.

“I know all three guys were amazing hockey players,” Hembre said. “We all had an equal chance to get it and I was just thrilled to get it.”

“I think it was a tough pick,” Falmouth coach Deron Barton said. “Theo, I think he’s a prolific player, he’s a prolific scorer. He performed his best against the best competition and the toughest teams. So I think that’s probably one of the things that just set him apart, maybe, if anything, was that.”
