FALMOUTH — The Long Range Planning Advisory Committee is seeking public input on a draft open space plan designed to update the Greening of Falmouth, which has served as the town’s open space road map for the past 12 years.
The goal of the new plan is to “guide the town’s efforts on protecting open space by setting a vision, articulating goals for conservation, and outlining what needs to be done to achieve those goals,” according to Theo Holtwijk, Falmouth’s long-range planning director.
The new plan is “limited to open spaces containing ecological resources, farmland, woodland, waterfront areas, and park lands that contain hiking trails or trail potential,” he said. “Outdoor athletic facilities, playgrounds, cemeteries, and parks without trails are not addressed.”
Residents are being encouraged to complete a three-question online survey, which can be accessed through June 26 on the town’s website: www.falmouthme.org.
A public forum will be held June 27 at 6 p.m. in Town Hall to outline the plan and receive feedback before the final document is prepared and submitted to the Town Council for review.
