The Falmouth sailing team (senior Ellie MacEwan and sophomore Charlie Lalumiere in the ‘A’ division boat are pictured) recently competed for the Mallory Trophy in the high school national championships in Austin, Texas. The Yachtsmen wound up eighth out of 20 participating schools and were the top New England finisher. As a result, Falmouth became the eighth-ranked high school sailing team in the United States in fleet racing. This is only the second time in history that a Maine school has qualified for the Mallory Trophy and represents the highest final national ranking ever for a Maine high school. In addition to MacEwan and Lalumiere, senior Francesco Montanari and sophomore Myles Everett raced in the ‘B’ division and senior Hollister Poole, junior Peter Kyros and sophomore Haley McMahon also participated. The team is coached by Michael McAllister.
