FALMOUTH — The Police Department says a rash of street sign thefts in recent months is than an inconvenience.
Lt. John Kilbride said critical emergency response could be delayed due because of missing street signs. In addition, he said, there is the expense the town incurs to replace the signs; each one costs between $60 and $100.
Kilbride said about 16 signs have disappeared during the spring and summer, and warned that stealing a street sign could lead to an arrest and a fine.
The Police Department is asking anyone who may know where the missing signs are or have other information about the thefts to call 781-2300.
