FALMOUTH — The Police Department received a $2,000 grant from the Maine Municipal Association to buy new exterior vests.
The vests will allow officers to wear their body armor on the outside of their uniforms. It will also allow officers to redistribute their duty belt equipment to the vest, which in turn will put less weight on their lower backs. According to a press release, this will also enhance officers ability to carry additional equipment.
