Summonses
5/23 at 5:37 p.m. John Wells, 46, of Walker Street, Portland, was issued a summons by Officer Dean Mazziotti on a charge of operating with an expired license more than 90 days.
5/29 A female juvenile, 17, was issued a summons by Officer Robert Susi on a charge of possession of marijuana.
Super-sized assault
5/23 at 5:27 p.m. Police were called to Route 1 in front of Wendy’s where a middle-aged man had gotten out of his BMW and threatened the man driving behind him, accusing him of tailgating.
Snake in the grass
5/27 at 5:05 a.m. A Middle Road resident called police to report a man dressed all in black with his face blackened was crawling commando-style through the grass across the road. When the man, age 27, realized he’d been spotted, he tried to get away by bike. Police caught up with him at Nina’s Variety, where he was trying to remove the black shoe polish from his face. When asked what he’d been doing, he said he was trying to sneak up to his girlfriend’s house to spy on her through her windows. According to police, he stated he “really loved his girlfriend.”

5/27 at 6:57 p.m. Sullivan Tire reported a utility trailer was stolen from its lot between Friday and Tuesday but then discovered it had rolled down an embankment. Police suspect it happened while someone was trying to steal it.
…Try, try again
5/28 at 7:04 a.m. Police believe the same person or people who tried to steal the trailer from Sullivan Tire may have been behind the theft a day later of a town-owned utility trailer, stolen from the Mill Road garage. The trailer is valued at $5,000.
