PORTLAND — The Council on International Education Exchange announced Jan. 20 it would give more than $500,000 in study abroad scholarships to 100 schools nationally, including Falmouth High School.

The funding is part of CIEE’s Generation Study Abroad pledge, which aims to provide $20 million in scholarships by 2020. Falmouth High School and Kennebunk High School were the only two Maine schools selected.

Students will be able to attend one of CIEE’s 30 summer study abroad programs in 16 places around the world. Select high schools that have shown a commitment to expanding global education and promoting international exchange opportunities with CIEE will have their scholarships extended.
