The boys’ hockey playoffs feature three local teams looking for a state title. In Class A South, Falmouth went 12-5-1 and earned the No. 2 seed behind Cheverus. After a three-week hiatus, the Yachtsmen finally return to the ice for a countable game Saturday at the Colisee in Lewiston, where they will face either third-ranked Biddeford (12-6) or No. 6 South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete (10-7-1) in the semifinals. In Class B South, Greely finished first after a 15-2-1 campaign, which ended with a 1-1 tie at St. Dom’s. Jackson Williams had the goal. The Rangers have a bye into Friday’s semifinal round in Lewiston. They will meet either No. 4 Yarmouth (10-6-2) or fifth-ranked Gorham (9-9). The Clippers closed with a 4-3 overtime home win over Gardiner. Kurt Haywood had all four goals, including the winner in OT. Looking ahead, the Class A South Final is Tuesday of next week. The Class B South Final is Wednesday of next week. The Class B state game is Saturday, March 10 at 1 p.m., and the Class A state final is the same day at 6 p.m. All of those games will be played in Lewiston.
