FALMOUTH —The town has received a grant from the state to help fund its trail project on the River Point property.
The state’s Recreational Trails Program recently awarded Falmouth more than $22,000 to construct a trail that will extend to Falmouth Road. The project includes a 75-foot pedestrian suspension bridge spanning the West Branch of the Piscataqua River and a wildlife observation platform overlooking a wetland on the property.
Future plans would extend the trail to Community Park and eventually to the Rines Forest in Cumberland.
Falmouth Conservation Corps volunteers will carry out the construction and trail-building this summer. Anyone interested in participating should contact Bob Shafto at 878-8933 or openspace@maine.rr.com.
