FALMOUTH — After considering charging students $1 to see high school athletic events, the Athletic Department decided to stay the course and let students in for free.

Students will still be able to use their IDs to gain free admission. The fees would have applied to all students in grades 5 through 12.

Athletic Director Cooper Higgins said the reason for the proposed charge was to make it easier for ticket-takers to do their jobs. He said many students frequently forget their IDs, but still want to get in for free, freshmen don’t even have their IDs yet, and it’s difficult to tell the IDs apart from other schools’, so non-Falmouth students often get in for free, too.

The sports affected would have included varsity football, boys’ and girls’ varsity and junior varsity soccer, boys’ and girls’ varsity and junior varsity basketball, and boys’ and girls’ varsity and junior varsity hockey.

Adults will still be charged $3 to see these games. Senior citizens will be charged $1. Some events like playoff football will still have entrance fees.
