FALMOUTH — Two teenagers were arrested after they were allegedly found living June 25 in a summer home that did not belong to them.

They now face multiple charges of burglary and trespassing in Falmouth and Cape Elizabeth. 

The owner of the Falmouth house entered the Huston Road home, on the shore of Highland Lake, at about 9 a.m. and noticed that someone had been living there, Police Lt. John Kilbride said.

“He heard some rustling and saw two people running out the back door and into the woods,” he said.

Police then set up a perimeter watch around the forest and called in a canine unit to track down the suspects, Kilbride said.

The pair, 18-year-old Artem Tymchenko, of Rockaway Road, also near Highland Lake, and a 17-year-old girl, were flushed out of the forest and arrested, he said.

Tymchenko was charged with criminal trespass, violating conditions of release, burglary and possession or transfer of burglar’s tools. The girl was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, possession of marijuana, sale and use of drug paraphernalia and theft by receiving stolen property.

Kilbride said it was unclear how long they had lived in the home. He said the home did not appear to damaged, but that the pair had allegedly been eating food and drinking alcohol in the house.

In addition to the charges in Falmouth, the two are also being charged in Cape Elizabeth with four counts of burglary, according to Cape Elizabeth Police Chief Neil Williams.

The duo were allegedly involved in nighttime burglaries of at least four unlocked homes, where they stole computers, wallets and credit cards, among other items, Williams said. Three of the homes were occupied and one was vacant, he said.

The girl was booked into the Long Creek Youth Development Center in Westbrook. Tymchenko is being held at Cumberland County Jail on $25,000 cash bail.
