FALMOUTH — The town will hold two information sessions on its new senior property tax relief program.

The sessions will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 5 and Oct. 3 at the Mason-Motz Activity Center on Middle Road. With initial funding of $75,000, town leaders believe up to 200 households could qualify.

In order to be eligible for the tax relief program, an applicant must be at least 62 and have an annual income of under $30,000. In addition, the household’s property taxes must be more than 4 percent of the owner’s income.

Renters can also apply if at least 15 percent of their annual income goes toward their annual rent and the rent is more than 4 percent of their total income. Call the Senior Services Coordinator at 699-5330 for more information.

Property tax assistance applications are due by Oct. 15.
