By press time, almost every local fall sports team will have begun play.

Here’s a glimpse.

Football

Brunswick’s football team certainly made a statement in its first game in Eastern Class B. The Dragons opened with a 47-2 victory at Brewer. The Dragons look to go 2-0 Friday when they play at Gardiner.

Morse is also 1-0 after holding off host Oceanside, 23-16. The Shipbuilders play their first home game Friday, when Falmouth pays a visit.

Mt. Ararat started with a 56-6 loss at Skowhegan. The Eagles hope to bounce back Friday when they host Westbrook.

Boys’ soccer

On the pitch, Mt. Ararat’s boys opened with a 3-0 win at Messalonskee. The Eagles then lost, 3-2, to visiting Lewiston. After visiting rival Brunswick Wednesday, Mt. Ararat is home with Mt. Blue and travels to Edward Little Tuesday.

Brunswick fell at Hampden Academy in its opener, 4-0. After hosting Mt. Ararat Wednesday, the Dragons host Brewer Saturday and go to Messalonskee Tuesday.

Morse fell in its opener, 7-0, to visiting Winslow. Monday, the Shipbuilders dropped to 0-2 with a 4-2 home loss to Leavitt. Morse is at Maranacook Friday and welcomes Gardiner Tuesday.

Girls’ soccer

On the girls’ side, Morse is 2-0 after narrow wins at Winslow (1-0) and Leavitt (2-1, in overtime). Miracle Trimble’s penalty kick was the long goal against the Black Raiders. Ann Tolan had the winner against the Hornets. The Shipbuilders hosted Maranacook Wednesday and visit Gardiner Tuesday.

Mt. Ararat opened with victories over visiting Maranacook (4-2) and host Lewiston (4-0). After hosting Brunswick Wednesday, the Eagles are at Mt. Blue Saturday and welcome Edward Little Tuesday.

Brunswick dropped a 1-0 home decision to Hampden Academy in its opener. The Dragons were at Mt. Ararat Wednesday, visit Brewer Saturday and play host to Messalonskee Tuesday.

Field hockey

Morse’s field hockey sandwiched losses at Leavitt (6-1) and Maranacook (3-2) around a 2-0 home victory over Lincoln to begin the season. The Shipbuilders hosted MCI Wednesday and go to Mt. View Tuesday of next week.

Brunswick opened with a 1-0 win at Edward Little, then fell, 6-1, to visiting Cony and 3-0 to visiting Lewiston. The Dragons were at defending champion Skowhegan Thursday, host Lawrence Saturday and go to Oxford Hills Tuesday.

Mt. Ararat dropped its first two games, 2-0 at Cony and 10-0 at home to Messalonskee. The Eagles hosted Mt. Blue Tuesday, welcome Skowhegan Saturday and play at Lawrence Tuesday.

Cross country

Mt. Ararat’s boys’ cross country team was first and Brunswick third in a seven-team meet at Maranacook. Mt. Ararat’s Sam Wood (17 minutes, 49 seconds) was first individually. On the girls’ side, the Dragons were second to the hosts with the Eagles third. Brunswick’s Teresa Murphy (21:29) was the top finisher.

Morse’s boys beat five other teams in a race at Winslow. Christopher Walfield (17:55.84) was second individually. The girls were third, with Amy Franklin (sixth, 21:57.69) leading the way.

Golf

Brunswick’s golf team is off to the best local start. The Dragons improved to 3-0 with a 165-230 win over Morse (0-4) Monday. Mt. Ararat fell to 1-2 with a 230-195 loss to Medomak Valley.
