BRUNSWICK — Route 1 near the Brunswick-Freeport line will be restricted to single-lane daytime traffic today, Thursday Oct. 27, as Maine Department of Transportation work crews continue to repair a failed pipe under the roadway.

Beginning at 8 p.m. the road will be closed except for local traffic on either side of the project.

On Sunday, Oct. 30, MDOT said, the road will be completely closed in order to change the pipe and repave the area. It is anticipated work will be completed early Monday morning, Oct. 31.

Motorists are encouraged to use Interstate 295 between Exit 24 and Exit 28 as a detour.
