FALMOUTH — The Maine Department of Transportation on Friday said motorists who travel along the section of the Gray Road that includes the Route 100/Route 26 bridge to expect delays next week and suggested they seek alternate routes while crews repair the underside of the bridge.

From 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 8, through Friday, Sept. 11, traffic will be reduced to a single alternating lane, regulated by flaggers, while crews use an under-bridge crane to perform the repairs on the 1932 structure.

According to the DOT, 13,000 vehicles a day travel the 834-foot bridge, which spans the Presumpscot River and a Pan Am Railways line.
