PORTLAND — A former Cumberland County commissioner is the first person to announce a candidacy for the state House District 115 seat.
Democrat Malory Shaughnessy, who represented Windham and surrounding towns as county commissioner from 2006 to 2010, has filed papers to become a Clean-Elections candidate for the seat currently held by two-term Democratic Rep. Steve Lovejoy, who is not seeking re-election.
Shaughnessy, who moved to Portland about a year ago, lost a bid for re-election as county commissioner in 2010 to Susan Witonis.
District 115 includes the Oakdale and Back Cove neighborhoods.
