Several events will be held Sept. 9-16 as part of the eighth annual National Drive Electric Week, a nationwide campaign to heighten awareness about plug-in vehicles and highlight the benefits of all-electric and hybrid-electric cars.

Falmouth, Cumberland and Yarmouth on Sept. 9 from noon-3 p.m. will host a joint Ride & Drive at TideSmart Global, 380 Route 1, Falmouth. There will be speakers; ride-alongs courtesy of Lee Nissan, Pape Chevrolet and Casco Bay Ford; refreshments; music and activities for kids.

On Sept. 14, a ribbon-cutting will be held for a new electric vehicle charging station behind the L.L. Bean flagship store on Justin’s Way in Freeport. The cluster, the largest in Maine, includes eight Tesla charging stations and eight Level II charging stations for all makes and models.

On Sept. 16 from noon-4 p.m. the city of South Portland, in collaboration with the Natural Resources Council of Maine and the Greater Portland Council of Governments, will host a Ride & Drive at the city Community Center, 21 Nelson Road. There will be free pizza and the opportunity to drive a range of electric cars.
