TOPSHAM — Eva S. Allard, 81, of Topsham, died March 19 at Horizon’s Living Center in Brunswick, with her family by her side.

She was born on Oct. 4, 1932, in Brunswick, the daughter of Louis J. and Rose Laffely. She grew up in Brunswick and attended local schools.

On Sept. 1, 1952, she married her best friend, Chanel Allard, and the couple resided in Topsham to raise their family.

She was an at-home mom. She cared for her children, her children’s children and many other family members that needed a helping hand. She was always there, and in her spare time, she enjoyed doing word puzzles or being in the kitchen, cooking a new recipe for the family.

Allard was an active communicant of All Saints Parish, St. John’s Church.

She was predeceased by her husband; sisters, Rose Laffley and Cecile Belanger; brothers, Louis, Philip, Wilfred and Charles; and son-in-law, John Trembley.

She is survived by daughter, Linda R. Pelletier and husband, Roger, of Topsham; two sons, Louis Allard and wife, Dorothy, of Topsham and Richard Allard, of South Portland; brother, Leon Laffley and wife, Nancy, of Brunswick; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours were held March 23, at Demers–Desmond Funeral Home, Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at All Saints Parish, St. John’s Church, Brunswick.

Burial will be in the spring at St. John’s Cemetery, Brunswick.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation in Allard’s name to St. John’s Catholic Church, 39 Pleasant St., Brunswick, ME 04011.
