BATH — The Bath-Tsugaru, Japan, Sister City Exchange Program is sponsoring a poster design contest for sixth- through 12th-graders to advertise the city’s upcoming “Japanese Celebration” weekend, Feb. 2-5, 2012.
The winner of the contest will receive a $50 Gift of Bath certificate, which will be good at more than 70 stores and restaurants, plus free admission to all Japanese Weekend events and full acknowledgment in event publicity.
The design must be original and cannot include any copyrighted characters or designs. It should measure 8 1/2 by 11 inches, with no writing.
Entries will be judged on visual impact, relevance to the Japanese theme, clarity to the observer, and originality.
Entries must be postmarked by Dec. 31 or hand-delivered to the Regional School Unit 1 superintendent’s office by Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012. They should be sent to: Japanese Poster c/o Cindy Matthews, Bath-Tsugaru Coordinator, Superintendent’s Office, RSU 1, 39 Andrews Road, Bath, ME, 04530.
