Crews from Labbe Construction compress the rear of the Unitarian Universalist Church on Pleasant Street in Brunswick on Tuesday morning, when the fire-damaged 1885 building was demolished. Parishioners hope to break ground on a new building on the same site next summer, about a year after the fire. The bell of the Unitarian Universalist Church is removed from the steeple Tuesday before the building’s demolition. The plan is to use it in a new church that will be built on the same site.

After removing the bell from the steeple of the Unitarian Universalist Church at 15 Pleasant St. in Brunswick, Bob Morneau of Labbe Construction returns to the tower to remove a portion of the bell’s pulling mechanism with a sledge hammer.
