SCARBOROUGH — The high school will host an Empty Bowl Luncheon after its holiday chorus concert on Friday, Dec. 21.

The concert will begin at 10 a.m., with the luncheon following at 11:15 a.m.

The Empty Bowl Project is an international program that raises money to feed the hungry by serving soup in a handmade bowl in exchange for a cash donation.

According to a news release from art teacher Lisa Ruhman, guests keep their bowl “as a reminder that someone’s bowl is always empty.”

Students in the Alternative Education program, staff and faculty worked all semester to make and decorate the bowls for this event, Ruhman said.

A $10 donation will buy a bowl, soup and a roll. There will also be raffles for
handmade platters and serving bowls. All proceeds will be donated to Project G.R.A.C.E, a Scarborough-based nonprofit that aims to “orchestrate the exchange of resources from those that have and are willing to share, to those who need and are willing to receive.”
